Guided Tour of Career Cruising OnlineYou don’t have to use these instructions to check out Career Cruising, but they offer one good way to discover some of the program’s most important features. Check out the Career Cruising web site! Step 1: Starting the Program Start your web browser (usually Netscape or Internet Explorer). Then type in www.careercruising.com in the address/location bar near the top of the screen. When your computer gets to the Career Cruising website, enter your organization’s username and password. Username: eastland Password: careersStep 2: Career Portfolio and Resume Builder
It would take a long time fill out all the different sections of the portfolio and see all its helpful features. For the time being, simply explore the different areas where users can store and organize information by clicking on the blue buttons on the left side of the web page. Also, click on the grey RESUME BUILDER tab near the top left of the web page to view its features. To see the Career Portfolio in action, please use the “Career Portfolio Classroom Activities” that can be found through the Resources section below. Step 3: College and University Information
Now browse through the information for this school. To visit the school’s website, simply click on the web link provided on the main School Profile page. Step 5: Career Matchmaker (Interactive Interest Inventory)
The order of the questions asked in the second round is determined by the interests you showed in the first round (typically, there are 50-70). Answer as many of these additional questions as possible , then click the grey View Career Suggestions So Far button near the bottom of the screen. Career Matchmaker will update your list of career suggestions.
While on the Career Suggestions screen, you can browse through Matchmaker’s features using the blue buttons on the right side of the screen. For instance, you can save your results, limit your suggestions to a particular level of education, or see how careers not included in your list of suggestions match up with your answers. You can also go through the YOUR SKILLS assessment, which asks you to rate your level of skill in 45 areas. Once you complete the test, a suitability rating will appear for each career in your suggestion list. |
