Parent tips for dealing with bullying; Listen carefully to your child. Reinforce your love for your child. Praise them for the courage to discuss bullying incidents with you. Discuss with them that bullying is wrong and is not their fault. Discuss the lack of respect bullies have for others. DO NOT encourage physical retaliation. Do some role-playing to practice responses.
Step in and talk to school authorities. As objectively as possible, give the school authorities the facts and information that they need. Such as; Who is doing the bullying? When is the bullying taking place? What exactly is happening? Where is the bullying taking place? How is your child being bullied?
All bullying, intimidation, and harassment reports will be kept confidential to the extent possible given the need to investigate. Students who make good faith complaints will not be disciplined.
