Laura Milam
5th/6th grade ELA/SS
I received my undergraduate degree from North Central College in Journalism. After a few years in the mortgage industry, I returned to school at National Louis University to get my education degree. Since then I have taught a few years in 3rd grade, worked with kids with autism doing in-home ABA therapy, and finally have spent the last 7 years teaching ELA and SS to 6th and 5th grade.
My husband and I have 4 children who range in age from 21 to 5 years old. They keep us busy and on our toes. The most recent additions to our family are 2 very happy and fluffy cats, Zippy and Beans. In my free time, I love to read, watch movies, and see my friends.

Mrs. Stacey Russell
Kindergarten Teacher
I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, IA. This will be my fourth year teaching and my third year teaching kindergarten.
I reside in Mt. Carroll, IL with my husband and two children. We love to spend time outdoors. You can usually catch us at a ball game. We are excited to become part of the Eastland family!

Due to thunderstorms in the area, today’s Jh football camp is going to be pushed back a day to Wednesday and Thursday.

The Music Department went on their 2024 trip last week to New Orleans. While there the students were able to: visit the St. Louis Cathedral & the Cabildo, experience the French Quarter & Market, go on a swamp boat tour, walk the Riverwalk, perform in the French Quarter, attend master classes at Loyola University, visit the WWII museum, have a private show at Preservation Hall, go on a walking ghost tour, and ended their visit with a dinner jazz cruise on a steamboat.
The students represented Eastland well and endured the Louisiana humidity! Great job Cougars!

Eastland is now out of their designated tornado shelter areas and released back to their regularly scheduled day.
I want to commend our students, staff, and families for their professional and safe way they handled the tornado warning. The last day of student attendance makes it especially difficult, but our protocols were implemented correctly and we were in constant communication with emergency personnel. We are aware of another possible weather event and will continue to monitor throughout the day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kashner
Due to all students and staff sheltering because of the tornado warning there are no staff currently manning phones. Phone calls may not be answered until the warning ends.
Due to a tornado warning and advice from the national weather service and emergency personnel, both Eastland Elementary and Eastland Junior/Senior High school are currently in the designated tornado shelter areas. All students and staff are safe.
Updates will be provided as soon as possible.

These awesome 3rd graders have joined Mrs. Thurman’s 100 point club, earning over 100 AR points this school year! Way to go guys!
